Distance: 36mi
Elevation: 3500ft
Bike choice: Road

You'll enjoy this ride if you: Devour climbs with a smile on your face.

Ah, the Three Bears. It's a classic East Bay route that winds around San Pablo and Briones Reservoirs with some beautiful views, great climbs, and a little heat. This PCR is a little shorter than the others but I wouldn't be surprised if the group stacks some watts against each other.

Is it coincidence that the route outline looks like a noose or that "calaveras" means "skulls" in Spanish? Nah.

This ride will start out with a nice stroll out of our Pleasanton shop down to Calaveras Reservoir, which provides some nice views after the gentle climb. We'll then circle back around to go back to the reservoir going up Sierra Road, a road that has probably crushed a few spirits in its history with the gradient being an average of 10% for almost 4mi. Once we finish huffing up that thing, we'll be smooth sailing all the way back to the shop. Easy!

We'll have a ride leader that will also accommodate a shorter loop, so if you or your friend aren't sure about tackling the whole thing, don't sweat it. You'll have the option to turn around before the going gets too tough.

Besides ride leaders, we'll provide ride food and hydration, and Specialized will provide SAG (ride support). Peloton Club members' friends are welcome to join.

Maps and GPX files will be provided to those that RSVP. Please use the form below to join the ride.

For this PCR, we'll ride further and further away from civilization as we enter the grandeur of Morgan Territory. Come to find out, Jerry Morgan moved here from Alabama because he was into hunting grizzlies and the area had plenty of them. While we won't be hunting bears, we sure can conquer some big chunks of elevation.

You may have never ridden this before because of its remoteness, so now's the time. Mike's Bikes will provide SAG support, ride leaders, food, and hydration. Peloton Club members' friends are welcome to join.
